Hi, I’m Mary Jude Maxwell of Yoga with MJ. I have been practicing yoga and taking barre classes for over fifteen years. I enjoy the flexibility and mind-body connection of yoga and the muscle building strength of barre. I completed my 200 Hr yoga certification after I retired and began teaching a vinyasa style of yoga.
Knowing that I wanted to age gracefully while being kind to my body, I combined my love of yoga and barre into a yoga sculpt fusion class. Studies show we lose muscle mass and bone density as we age. When done on a consistent basis, combining yoga with light hand weights increases flexibility, balance, supports bone health and increases muscle burn for a total body workout.
This yoga style would benefit any individual who would like a gentle vinyasa flow with increased metabolism, muscle burn, flexibility, in addition to, supporting bone and pelvic health.
Currently, I teach yoga sculpt fusion classes live on Zoom and in person, and chair yoga classes in person as well.
The chair yoga classes provide a more stable base to support individuals wishing to increase flexibility and strength and reduce stress.
I strive to create a supportive, positive environment where students feel empowered and energized for an enjoyable experience. In addition, this class will include a brief meditation time to help you feel relaxed.
When not teaching, I like to bake and spend time with my family, staying active by walking, golfing and playing pickleball.
